About Gather & Gather
Based in the UK and Ireland, our workplace caterer client, Gather & Gather - a proud member of Compass Group and CH&CO - is dedicated to elevating the potential of food in the workplace. With a passionate team, they believe food is about more than just fueling the day – it enhances productivity, inspires performance, and creates spaces where people thrive.
The intricacies of a lunchtime rush
Managing the lunchtime rush for hundreds of busy professionals within a short break period presents a huge challenge for any workplace caterer. Keeping customer flow smooth is essential to minimise long queues and ensure a seamless experience, preventing frustration during peak times.
Recognising the potential of technology to tackle these hurdles, the Gather & Gather team took their first step toward transforming the traditional checkout experience by implementing one Deligo self-checkout kiosk to their operation. After seeing the positive transformation and enhanced customer experience of the new checkout system, they decided to use the kiosk for their breakfast service too.
The intuitive self-checkout interface made it easy for their customers to transition from traditional manned checkouts, allowing the front-of-house staff to offer a more engaging customer centric service. As trust and confidence in the solution grew, Gather & Gather shortly introduced a second kiosk, doubling service efficiency.
Deligo’s unique in-plate recognition technology was especially important for the client, effectively recognising snack items, jacket potatoes and their toppings, and all of the elements of a traditional English breakfast. Deligo's ability to handle these UK-specific use cases seamlessly was a game-changer.
As Head of Technology for CH&CO , I’m proud of how Deligo’s self-checkout kiosks have revolutionised our operations. By reducing transaction times and queue lengths. Winning the Cateys’ Best Use of Technology award highlights the impact of this transformation and reinforces our commitment to leveraging technology to improve workplace catering for both our customers and teams. This journey demonstrates the true potential of innovation in our industry.
